Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Wisconsin

Bankruptcy after marriage

I filed Chapter 7 10 years ago. I am finally clear on my credit report. Am thinking of marriage, fiance has filed Chap. 13 1 and a halfyears ago. Going to file Chap 7 next year.Lawyer suggested it. He couldn't do it last year because it was state and federal taxes.Has to wait 2 years against taxes. If i would marry him after he filed Chap 7 would that go against my good credit now. Or would my credit stay the same as it is. Which is excellent credit now.I wouldn't want it to be held against me.

Re: Bankruptcy after marriage

Hello, this is a rather complex question. I would think that if you marry him after your marriage, it would not affect your credit. However, because your fiance' has a lawyer helping him with his case, you should ask him or her for a more definitive answer, because they will be more familiar with the facts. Best wishes, Mark J.
