The laws against adults having sex with minors are just that -- laws against adults having sex with minors. They do not forbid adults to spend time with minors. Precisely what activities they forbid varies from one state to the next, but they usually apply to plenty of conduct besides actual intercourse. There is no reason you and he can't date or go to your prom together as long as you don't do anything forbidden by the laws of whatever state you happen to be in at the time.

You say you "believe" you are old enough to consent, but your belief doesn't matter. The law says how old a person must be to consent, and people who are younger may not do so regardless of what they believe.

I don't know what the age of consent is in your state, but I believe most states set it at 18 so you and your beau may need to resort to cold showers (separately!) for the time being.
