Effects of Felony Convictions

Keep in mind that only convictions count rather than mere charges involving a felony. If you think that you might be facing a felony, you should immediately seek out and discuss the matter with an experienced criminal lawyer. Felony convictions are matters of permanent public record in WI via a court sponsored website. Most potential employers, landlords, lenders and insurers check this website, meaning that it becomes impossible to hide the conviction. Usually, all such service providers will decline to deal with anyone having a felony convection. You should therefore do everything legally possible to avoid being convicted, and that process all begins with obtaining top notch legal talent. Lawyers can also assist before you are even charged, by approaching the authorities early on with a proposed disposition involving something other than a felony. My comments here are of a general nature and not intended as legal advice for you unless you subsequently retain me; you really need to locate and consult with your own attorney.
