Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin

A friend of mine is being charged with armed robbery. He robbed a gas station with a gun. I would like to know what is generally the minimum sentence for this specific crime in the state of wisconsin. Even a close estimate would be nice. Thank you very much.

It's very, very difficult to answer this kind of question with any certainty. That's a higher classed felony the punishment for which can be increased by the judge because a firearm was used. If this friend of yours has no record of any kind (including no juvenile record), he might be looking at a long period of probation only - it of course depends on which judge he would come before and other factors, such as a sincere show of remorse. My experience dictates that he could be looking at two to five years prison with between five to ten years supervised release afterwards, on average. Again, it all depends on many factors that may or may not either mitigate the case or aggravate it.
