Legal Question in Insurance Law in Wisconsin

Car Accident, Citation Given to me, Insurance Statement

I had an accident where I hit another car because I ran a red light. I didn't see the light, but I got a citation for it. Damage was extensive to my car (not sure about the other), all people were taken to hosiptal, but I think all were treated and released.

My insurance company wants to record my statement about the accident, but I'm not sure what I should be or not saying when I give it.

I'm also wondering if I should plead not guilty to the citation and try and settle the citation with the DA.

I don't think injuries were very serious, but I'm not sure. I have good insurance coverage $100,000/$300,000/$100,000, but I am still worried about getting sued later.

#1 You have a contractual obligation to cooperate; #2 Tell the truth; #3 Review the facts of the accident before you give a statement; #4 Answer questions specifically but briefly using yes or no wherever possible; and #5 Do not speculate, guess or exaggerate in anyway.

Also, I always encourage people to try to reduce the points and fees as much as possible, but be prepared to argue why you are innocent and/or deserve such reductions.

Finally, it does not sound like it's more than a $100,000 case, but on my web site I answer car insurance FAQs: Car Insurance FAQs
