Legal Question in Personal Injury in Wisconsin

faulty crock pot handle

made a batch of italian beef in a 8.5 capacity crock pot that i have used only about three times. it is about 1-2 yrs old. went to pick it up to move it and the left side handle totaly broke off causing it to fall to the floor at my feet and breaking the crock liner and splashing hot liquid onto my left ankle and foot and scalding them. do i have lawsuit? it happened dec 24th and is still red, painful, and sensative!

You may have a case, but whether it would be feasible to pursue will depend, in my opinion, upon how bad your injuries are. Your claim would be based upon the theory that the pot was defective. The seller or manufacturer might just be willing to take your word for what happened and might be willing to compensate you for your injuries. If the seller or manufacturer were to contest your contention that the pot was defective, you might have to have the pot analyzed by an expert to determine why the handle broke. That would begin to get expensive. If your injuries are bad enough to warrant pursuing something, you will need documentation of the severity of your injuries. You probably should talk with a lawyer if you want to pursue something, again depending upon how bad your injuries were. The time for pursuing an injury case in Wisconsin is three years from the date of injury.
