Is the Court Summons from the attorney for the other driver? Was the Summons accompanying a Complaint? Was this in a Small Claims Court case or a Large Claims Court case? If it was a Summons and Complaint in a Small Claims Court case, you just have to appear at the court hearing on the return date which is indicated. If it was in a Large Claims Court case, you will have to file an Answer with the Court, and also serve it on the other attorney, within the required time. The Summons will normally indicate what you need to do to respond to the Summons. You might want to contact the other attorney to see if some type of payment arrangments can be agreed upon with the other attorney and you, to pay the damages, given your apparent financial condition. When you indicate that you "need to know what to write in this letter to the attorney," I am not sure what you are referring to. I would suggest that you discuss the facts of the accident with an experienced attorney who can review the facts with you in order to give you advice as to how to respond in this case, and to determine whether you are at fault or partially at fault. Make sure that you respond to the Summons in the way that it instructs you, otherwise, you risk having a Default Judgment taken against you for failure to respond appropriately.
