Contesting the beneficiary on a life insurance policy is extremely difficult, since distribution of benefits will not require any court process. In any event, employer sponsored life insurance from some earlier job which he had would normally expire when he left the job. I'm not really sure about exactly what you want to contest, but he should probably talk to a lawyer if you really want to know your rights.

Do not assume that I am your attorney because of my response here, since I would not be taking any action on your case without additional arrangements.
