Re: emancipation

Emancipation must be viewed on a case-by-case basis and it is always best to consult with an attorney to determine if the criteria of the law is satisfied. Wyoming's emancipation laws are found in Title 14, Chapter 1 (14-1-201, etseq). You can become emancipated upon marriage, admission to the military, or by court order. To obtain a court order you must ge 17, live independently, have parental consent, manage your own affairs, and have a lawful means of income. You must also demonstrate to the court that emancipation is in your best interest. This is very subjective and something an attorney should discuss with you.
