Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Dear Lawguru,

A false FIR has been lodged against my friends entire family for hitting a person with slipper. Police has no evidence. The person who filed FIR has bribed the police and they inturn have filed the false FIR against the whole family of 5.

Now they are out on bail as the case wasnt very serios.

The family of 5 have now approached a lawyer for quashing this case and the lawyer has asked for 1 lac rupees.

My ques :

1) Is this offence (though its false) serios? If yes,to what extent.

2) Is quashing required or not?

3) If its required then do they need to pay such heavy amt to the lawyer?

Regards

the fees of lawyers vary.If this lawyer is expensive research and find out a more reasonable lawyer.without seeing the documents I cannot comment on the merit of the case.

1.If the offence entails imprisonment, it is serious.

2.Either apply for quashing or face trial.

3. Search for lawyers fitting in your budget.
