Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hi I am explaining a situation below.Please let me know if it can be considered under the act.
One of my neighbours who is working as software engineer recently came back from her brother's marriage.Her husband asked what gift did her parents give.She said 1lakh and for marriage, her brother was given 16lakh gift.He started prompting that she has to get 1,60,000 not just 1lakh,she got fed up by his words and said not to bring topic again and again.After few days her aunt came home and she asked the same question about the gift.Also she prompted her that no one will give such less amount.
My neighbour got angry and told her husband. But he supported his mother and says now a days trend changed so u should get more.
Their intention was not to take her money though they felt it as prestige issue.
