Legal Question in Family Law in Pakistan

Salam,

I want to know that can NADRA issue a birth certificate twice with different names for the same child? I got birth certificate of my daughter from NADRA in January 2012 right after her birth but my divorced wife did not like her name and got another birth certificate from NADRA with different name and second certificate is also original as no duplicate stamp is there. I heard that once a computerized birth certificate is issued by NADRA to one of the mother or father, no one can change it (either name or other parameters). Instead, they can issue a duplicate certificate with a "stamp of duplicate" but with the same name. Is that true?

Yes they cant issue as per my knowledge.. You can take NADRA and your ex-wife to task for that.. For more do consult [email protected]

The second certificate got issued by wife, unless she made reference to first one and requested to change particulars of your daughter in NADRA records, is unlawful and criminal proceedings against your wife (u/s 420, 468 & 471 of PPC) can be initiated on this.

You can also file a suit for cancellation of 2nd certificate.
