Legal Question in Family Law in India

Sir, I have been married for 18 months, after a fight with my wife she complained and the police decided my 1 year old daughter to be with my wife. I'm the one to earn and she is homemaker. Police have decided and informed me to see my daughter once in a month for few hours. It's been 12 days that I haven't seen my daughter. I'll have to travel 500 kms to inlaws place to see my daughter for few hours and they do not want me to enter their house. I earn about 45k. Please advise,

You may file a petition before the local civil courts [guardianship Judge] for custody / visitation rights.
