Legal Question in Employment Law in Oman

Dear sir, Greetings!

Myself, H M Sheth, an expat to Oman working here as a registered Pharmacist in private medical centre. I started my work from 1st September, 2102. My work agreement is for two years from the date of start of my job (Although I have not signed my work agreement, and still it's with me). I have got another opportunity here in marketing field and wanted to quit this job. As i know little about laws in Oman, it says to give one month notification period before termination of job, But I suspect that my sponsor will not allow me to join in other company before completion of the first two years agreement. In this situation, what can be other option to terminate this job to join in marketing? Is it possible that I shall go back to India on exit visa and return back on new visa? In this case, is that possible that my old sponsor harass me or take any legal action against me? Please help me. I need to get this golden marketing opportunity. Waiting for your kind reply. Thanking you!....

Regards;

H m Sheth

Dear H M Sheth,

Since it is nine months that you are employed, your employment visa may have already been stamped on your Passport. If it is not, you can take emergency leave and return back to India. But you are taking a chance here, because the employer has the option to get a two year ban stamped on your Passport if he suspects that you have got yourself another job and are possibly going to return back after a temporary stay in India. You will neither be here nor there. Unless the salary and perquisites in the two jobs is not substantial, changing jobs is not recommended.

Regards,
