Legal Question in Employment Law in India

I just joined a company and I have been asked to sign a Service Agreement. I am informed of this only on the day of joining, when I have already resigned from the previous company. I was not informed at any time during the recruitment process. They are telling me it is company policy that I must sign the agreement . When I requested for a mail on the same, they have not provided. I have told them I need to consult a lawyer. They are OK with that. They said that I can read the legal document, note down the points and consult my lawyer or consult my lawyer through phone. But they are not willing to provide hard copy or soft copy of the draft legal document saying that it is against the company policy to give out the document. I have not signed yet and told them I will sign only after I get a real copy of the draft and allowed to consult my lawyer referring to it on real-time. 1.Do I really need to sign the document if I was not informed during the recruitment process? 2. Is it my right to get a real copy of the draft before signing to consult with a lawyer?

Dear Sir / Madam,

I see no harm in you signing the Service Agreement as long as there in no minimum tenure employment bond in it. You may request the Company for a photocopy thereof to consult your legal advisor, but it is not binding on the Company to give you a copy thereof. You will get a copy after both, you and the Company have signed the Service Agreement.

Regards,
