Legal Question in Employment Law in India

A Nigerian (Indian Origin, with HQ in Singapore) Company promised (orally) to award an Indian Employee a special one time US 10000 award, for project success in Nigeria. Thereafter the company managed to push out the employee out of job. Later on (written in email) the MD of the company writes that "Yes we had promised, but the approval from Sponsors could not be taken prior to your departure, as such you are no longer entitled to this US 10000, more over You were fired for indiscipline". The HR of the company has just 15 days before issued a certificate of appreciation via email on letter head, also writing the reason of departure as "resignation". The employment contract had jurisdiction as "country of service", which was in this case -Nigeria. What can this Indian employee do,,,, he had tried his best to enhance his certifications, resumes, applications, etc, but no job since 15 months....??? Any advice
