Legal Question in Business Law in Alabama

copy write

I provided pictures of my products to be sold on a companys web site along with their one product that we make for them. When they published the site they had a foot note at the botton of the page that had their name and all rights reserved. It had the c with a circle around it as in copy write. Can they steel my name and force me in any way to stop manufacturing the designs i have had for the last 25 years. Thank you

Mike

Re: copy write

It is not clear to whick aspect of the page your comment about the (c) applies. I would repost your inquiry to the Intellectual Property group, not the Business Law group.

Good Luck

Re: copy write

The answer would depend on the contract you had with the vendor of your products. Normally, the manufacturer retains all IP rights, including copyright and trademark, to the products resold by third parties. If that is the case with your dealings, you should contact the reseller and insist that they make it clear on their site that your company owns copyright, trademark and other IP rights in your products and that the reseller is only permitted to reproduce the pictures, logos, etc. for the sole purpose of distributing your products. Have an intellectual property attorney review your agreements before taking any action, though.

The above reply is in the nature of general information, is not legal advice and should not be relied on as such.
