check theft

I gave a voided check to a lady at the gym so that she could set up direct wothdrawal. The general manager of the gym came into her office and took the check off her desk without her permission. Does that constitute theft?

It greatly depends on his rights and responsibilities at the gym and what he did with the check afterwards.
