Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Child Custody

In 1989 I had a baby while in jail. A lady agreed to keep the child until I got out of prison and then give me the baby back. We signed and notorized a paper to that affect. Now the child is 14, visits me on holidays, summer. She wants to live with me now, however the lady took me to court in Alabama and won guardianship in 1990. The lady won't let her live with me. In NC, she has to be her for at least 6 months or I have to fight her in court in Alabama. I want to know if there is something I can do to get a court to allow the child to stay her in NC until court in Alabama so she can get enrolled in school next month.

Re: Child Custody

You might try to get an alabama attorney to try to get an order of temporary custody for you pending the main hearing. You would need to hire an alabama attorney where the child and the other lady live. If this is in the Mobile area, you can call me at 1-800-297-1703.
