Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Divorce Dismissal

My husband and I went to court and filed for a divorce. We have sense reconciled and would like to stop the divorce. It was filed on Jan. 17th and were told it would not be final for 30 days. We both had lawyers that we would like to keep out of this due to money issues. The court told us to write a letter to the judge asking for a dismissal. What should this letter say? THank you.

Re: Divorce Dismissal

Hi,

You should basically type up a document that looks similar to the divorce documents that were filed.

Title this document Motion to Dismiss Divorce Complaint.

Then state that you applied for divorce on such and such date, that you have since reconciled, and wish to have the divorce dismissed.

Then you both need to sign and have it notarized.

I hope this helps! If you need more help in the future, just let me know.

Jennifer
