Jewelry store lost ring

Dropped wedding ring off to jewelry store for repairs. Came back to pick it up and ring was given to someone else who somehow also had a claim receipt. Clerk did not ask for identification as requested on the claim receipt clearly printed on the bottom. Do I have a claim against the company/sotre for not following their own policy and losing my ring of which is of sentimental value?
