Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Alabama

I live in an apartment that does not have its own hotwater heater, i share a commercial one with 5 other units. our hot water bill is included in our rent, which was just raised from 30 to 50 dollars a month. the problem is the landlord let alagasco come and turn the hot water off because he did not pay the bill. the last time this happened(yes, this is the 2nd time) the hot water was out fir over 2 weeks. And he did not even discount that months rent for the inconvenience. I've talked to alagasco and they told me he has not contacted them about it or made any arrangements to pay the bill. Its like me paying my hot water bill on time every month and then having it cut off, what is he doing with all our money? What on earth can I do about it?

You have a remedy under the Alabama Landlord Tenant Act of getting out of your lease if he can't keep hot and cold running water in the apartment. Go online and study the act.
