Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

My mother past away on november 15, 2011 she left everything to me. do i need to have the will probated?

It depends. If she owned real estate that was only in her name, then yes, you would want to probate her will. If she owned investments that were only in her name that did not name you as an owner or beneficiary, then you will need to probate the will in order to gain access to those assets. If all she had was personal property and there are no other people contesting your right to take those assets, you might be safe not probating, but it would be best to take the will to a probate lawyer and let her/him take a look just to be sure.
