As a franchise attorney who also works with 501c3 organizations, I can tell you this is not a simple question that can be answered on a bulletin board like this one. There are rather complex filings required and you should engage an attorney who specializes in 501c3's. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.

You could also go to the IRS website and find the forms and instructions to obtain status as a charitable organization.

You can certainly go to IRS.gov and download the necessary forms and publications and fill them out. Our Firm usually charges clients $1,900.00 + the IRS filing fee to guide you through the process from beginning to end.
