Legal Question in Technology Law in Arizona

Questionaire

I would like to add the following questions to the registration required to get access to my newspaper website, and would like to know if it is legal.

What is your annual income? We will use a drop down with income categories.

1. Do you own your own home? We will use a Yes, No option.

2. How many people live in your home? This will be a small text box for them to fill out.

3. What level of education have you completed? We will use a drop down menu with a few options.

4. Are you a current Subscriber to the Daily Courier? We will use a yes no option.

5. What is your year of birth?

6. What is your Zip Code?

7. What is your sex?

We are going to require answers to these questions before we allow them into our website in order to read the rest of a news story that was printed in our paper.

We print a newspaper, daily, and put some of the stories up on the web. Anyone can read the headline and first two paragraphs but to read the rest of the story you have to register. Is there anything we are doing that would be considered illegal?

Re: Questionaire

Perfectly legal, but you are going to lose alot of potential readers, and the ones that do respond will lie in large numbers, rendering the survey statistically useless.

WHy not encourage the MAXIMUM readership (what advertisers want)_ and then do a reliable survey on a random basis by phone of your actual readership.
