Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Behind on Child Support...HELP!

I recently filed bankruptcy, lost my home, car, etc... and also fell behind on child support. My ex-wife wasn't patience and took me to court, I didn't get the court papers because I was in the process of eviction & had to move. Court date passed and I wasn't there, the judge issued a warrant for $2,500, what can I do besides go to jail? is child support reduction possible?

Re: Behind on Child Support...HELP!

You certainly can file a Motion, explaining your circumstances, asking the Court to "quash" the arrest warrant. You probably will have to come up with some funds, though, against the arrearage. Also, if your circumstances have changed, a modification of child support is appropriate.

I can explain the procedures better by phone or in person. There is too much to cover via e'mail (and I am not the greatest typist). We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.

Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Cathy to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation. I look forward to talking with you.
