Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

I went to see a lawyer about moving to California with my two year old. His father and I are not married and live in Arizona. Our son was born in Arizona. She told me I should just go. She said I had presumed custody because I am an unwed mother. She said that if the father filed for custody it could take several months and that by that time a judge would most likely no order him to come back because he would be comfortable in his new environment. I know no one here in Arizona, all my family and our sons family is back in California. I really want to go back home but I am scared. My sons father is really controlling and manipulative. As long as I'm with in arms reach he will never leave me alone.
