Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

I live in Mesa, AZ. The mother of my sons- ages 12 & 10, left the state 1 1/2 weeks ago and refuses to give a clear indication of when (or if) she plans on returning. We currently have joint custody, but she is designated as the primary caregiver of the boys. She is not willing to openly communicate about her plans, and I have no current address for her- all I know is that she is somewhere in Oregon. My sons are supposed to start school next week. I've looked at the forms for modifying custody, parenting time, and child support and they state that I could provide Service by Publication...reading through the details of this type of service seems rather exhaustive- and since I also have her cell phone # (which she doesn't answer to my calls- only occasional text message responses), I'm not sure if Service by Publication would be accepted by the court in this situation. I'm very confused as to how to move forward in making sure that my sons are in a stable environment moving forward. Note- I'm hopeful that I can get some helpful advice here, I was recently laid off from my job, so I have no means of affording a lawyer right now- which has added a substantial amount of stress to me in this situation I now face. Thank you.

I realize this response is very delayed. I had been out of the LAWGURU response mode for awhile.

However, if you still desire such, we can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options. This is obviously a very important matter, and you should not go in alone.

One of our attorneys can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss your matter in detail.

Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Alicia or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
