Assuming you entered the US legally and you are filing for an adjustment of status, the work permit would arrive approximately 3 months after filing.

In general it takes about 90 days to receive a work permit after filing, assuming you are eligible. However, before proceeding with the application, you should speak with an attorney regarding the previous application that was filed on your behalf. You do not state what happened to that petition, and it certainly something that an attorney would need to know before advising you regarding the filing of an application based on your marriage to a US citizen.

Typically marriage to a US citizen is among one of the fastest ways to status in the US, but your individual situation would need to be reviewed. Please email my office if you would like to go over your situation in more detail.
