can i make payments on medical bills

my injury claim is about to settle from a auto accident, i have about 2800 dollars in mediical bills that will be paid by my claim, my question is, can i take that money and make payments on bills instead of paying all at once. i have received letters from all that i owe stating they will accept monthly payments..my attorney say's i can't

it depends on whether the medical providers have liens, if they do, then they must be paid out of the settlement. If they do not have liens, you may be able to make payment arrangements with them. There are various types of liens, including consensual, for which type you would've signed a lien form with the medical provider. If you are in Arizona, there are also statutory liens, which are created by filing a lien with the county recorder.
