pedistrian / vechicle injury accident

I was recently in an accident. While crossing the st. a truck hit me . I was working at the time . . The drivers insurance is not enough to cover doctors bill.

How can I get compensation for pain and suffering? I dont drive or own a home so I do not have car or homeowners insurance.
