Legal Question in Technology Law in Australia
Posting online guides to building weapons.
Hello,
I have many documents on how to build homemade weapons, explosives, ''microwave guns'' and those sorts of things.
Being a backyard engineer I find it all very interesting to read, and would like to make a website and show them online. However, I am concerned about the legality of this. I can easily imagine someone getting me into trouble by stating this is ''terrorist'' material, when in fact I'm a university student with no intention of causing mayhem.
A similar site would be www [dot] totse [dot] com. It has many DIY-explosive guides but the owner hasn't had any issues. The difference is I live in Australia, whereas he is in America. If I host the website in America am I still safe due to ''free speech'' and whatnot? If I'm restricted to Australian law is there a chance I could run into trouble with this idea?
If there is a chance I'd get in trouble then I wouldn't bother, otherwise I'd like to publish the stuff online.

You should be able to get away with it, even in Australia (but possibly not in Europe for much longer due to vaunted reforms there), if you have an appropriate disclaimer. The disclaimer would say something like, "This information is for educational purposes only. The publisher does not advocate or accept any responsibility for the construction of devices described on this site. By using this site you agree to these terms."
