Legal Question in Family Law in Australia

I would like to move from Sydney to Melbourne with my 2year old daughter. Do I need her fathers permission? We were never married. He works full time but is in huge debt and would not beable to fight me in court.

It depends upon whether there are existing Court Orders. If there are none, then strictly you do not, but it is advisable to do so - or else legal proceedings may result.
