Property Settlement

My husband and I have separated. We have a 4 year old son, now in my sole care. We have a house together, now worth $450K. There is $120K left on the mortgage. I paid the $40K deposit for the house out of my savings from before I met him. He wants the house and is offering to pay me out $150K for it. Is this a fair figure? If not, what should I be asking for?

There are a number of factors you mention which means that it is impossible, at this stage, to advise you whether the proposal is fair or not. You should go and see an accredited family lawyer for advice.
