Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

bankruptcy

what should i bring with me once we have decided bankruptcy is the way to go? How long will it take and how much paperwork? will i be able to keep my house if i have never been late on a payment, etc.? I am concerned with not being able to pay my property taxes if i don't do something right away...help!

You need to get in to see an bankruptcy attorney ASAP. If you can make your house payments but not the property taxes you may be able to stay for many years bafore the house is sold for property taxes. On the other hand you could have the mortgage pay the taxes and start foreclosure proceedings. I depends on the Mortgage company and their proceedures.

Unfortunately, to be done RIGHT there is a lot of information that is needed by the attorney. Some to analyse your situation, a lot more to prepare and file your case.
