Legal Question in Disability Law in California

I'm an employee for the local school district here and I have a job related permanent injury dealing with my spine. In the last few days I've received papers claiming I've been paid nearly 7500$ since 2009. My injury began in 2007 along with a claim against the school board/district. The papers I've been sent have asked me to sign them and take a 7500$ check hence waiving any rights I may have to money from here on out. Is this legal? Are they trying to buy me out? I'm really unsure of what is going on because I can't get back in touch with anybody to tell me what to do. I've turned here based on some friends advice. Thanks in advance!

While you provide some information, you have not provided enough for anyone to know what is going on. We would have to see what the papers say. I assume it is an offer to settle your WC claim. An attorney familiar with WC would need to see all the medical reports and speak to you to determine what a fair settlement might be.

It seems that your employer's insurance company wants to force a settlement regarding your worker's compensation claim for $7,500.00. We need more information to be able to tell you the real value of your case. The offer is likely too low and you need to request a QME/AME evaluation.
