I need legal answer

what happens if you are being serve for something you didn't do,even though the car is in your name and at the time the insurance was in your name.

You defend it just like any other lawsuit. Turn it over to your insurance, that's what you pay it for. As a registered owner, not the at fault driver, there is a limit on how much you're responsible for. If you had no insurance that covers you, feel free to contact me for defense, it the case is in SoCal.

If you have auto insurance and someone is suing you for something that would be covered by your auto insurance, for goodness sakes send the paperwork to your insurance carrier. They are responsible for defending bogus claims as well as legitimate ones, and they are good at it. That's what you pay them for.
