rehiring

i worked with amstrak for 4 years as attendant , then I resigned from job,as I got the job with state Government, but I now realized that I made a mistake to resign from amtrak,

I wanted to resign from state GOVERNMENT JOB, AS IT IS 2 HRS COMMUTE FROM MY HOUSE, SO I WANT TO GO BACK TO AMTRAK.WHAT THE LAW SAYS ABOUT REHIRING IN THIS SITUATION.

I doubt that the law says anything about this. If you want to go back to Amtrak, you'll have to apply and hire out, if they want you, as a new employee with zero seniority. You'll once again begin accruing Railroad Retirement benefits, and Amtrak might consider the positive (and negative) comments in your personnel file. However, you're neither helped nor hindered in re-applying in any other respect, insofar as I know. If you had been fired or had a record of discipline, it would be a different story.
