Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

I need someone with domain expertise

I'm looking for an attorney with expertise in doing battle with creditors, particularly post judgement appeal (petition to confirm Arbitration award). Judgement was rendered last Friday, so I have 6 days to file a motion to reconsider or motion to vacate.

I live in the S. California area.

There is a difference between having expertise, vs using that expertise in cases that will cost more in fees than they may be worth. I'll be happy to discuss the issues with you, if you think your case is worth investing in.

Re: I need someone with domain expertise

We certainly have expertise, as we are for the most part retained only to represent creditors. Where cases present novel issues of law or significant dollars or assets, we accept representation of judgment debtors. If your case meets our criteria, we would consider it.

Keep in mind that there are very, very few grounds on which a petition to confirm arb award may be set aside or vacated. And a motion for reconsideration must be based uopn new facts or law that could not have with reasonable diligence have been presented to the court at the prior hearing. (The hearing on the petition to confirm the arb award is not a time to relitigate the case.)

We would need to fully review the underlying facts in order to ascertain how to proceed and whether or not an appeal makes sense.
