how much time to appeal

there are suing me for an accident that happened in 96 but it wasn't me , i never knew about the court hearing, so what can i do?

Do you mean that a judgment has been awarded against you and that it is being enforced now? If that is the case, you may collaterally attack the judgment for various reasons. Your question is ambiguous. You need to your paperwork to an attorney to review as soon as possible. Whatever remedy you may have, there's a limited amount of time for you to do it.
