Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

With respect to using a TaxID number in lieu of a Social Security Number when filing for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in Los Angeles County:

I'm paying for a document preparation service (Miller Bankruptcy Group) and would like to use my Tax ID for the filing. My question is, should I input my Tax ID number in Miller's online field that asks for SSN in order to have my TaxID appear on the docs they prepare?

Or, if I use my SSN, does it matter if I manually change the SSN on the prepared document to reflect my TaxID?

Or, is it the case that when officially filing the CH7 at the courthouse, a different form will be necessary for me to fill out in order to file...one where I would use my Tax ID?

I hope this makes sense. :)

Thanks in advance!

Javier

You are required to use your Social Security Number as your identifying number for filing your BK. This presumes you have a legitimate number that was issued to you by the SSA. If you do not have a valid SS number then you are permitted to use your ITIN (issued to you by the IRS) for filing your BK. Whichever number you're using you would input directly into the appropriate field for your BK petition. When you show up at your 341A hearing you must provide your original SSA or ITIN card to the trustee along with your valid government-issued picture ID. Hope this helps.
