Re: Domain name purchase?

Unless you have a license to do this from Movado you will probably be sued for copyright infringement.

Re: Domain name purchase?

Ownership of a domain name by itself conveys no privilege to use a trademark. Blogging alone might be nothing more than an exercise of free speech, but commercializing on the Movado name would get into trademark infringement pretty quickly. Further, owning and using a domain name that suggests it is connected with a well-known business, when it is not, may fall into the category of cyberpiracy or maybe cybersquatting. Relatively recent Federal laws (passed around 1999?) make these practices unlawful and subject you to civil penalties or claims for damages. You can find the definitions and the laws themselves fairly easily by doing a Google search, and I'd suggest looking at several sites since some give differing versions of what the terms mean, but you'll quickly get the general idea.

Re: Domain name purchase?

No, and you'll likely get sued for copyright, trademark and tradename infringement unless you obtain a license from them for use of their name and image. You can try to do so, if serious, feel free to contact me for legal help in the process.
