A motor might cause a fire when its warranty is just over
Hi,
We are in the spa business and one of our roller chair has caused the little trail of smoke while in operation. I called the manufacturer and was told that they can't support due to the fact that this device's warranty is just 2 months over.
What should I do at this point? Who would be responsible if this chair happens to cause a fire in the shop?

You should immediately stop using the device at it might cause an injury to a patron or burn your office. If because of your negligence after knowing of the danger this device may pose something happens you will be liable. If the device is somehow defective and it causes an injury there may be a claim against the manufacturer but you again will be liable for operating a device you know is not working correctly.

I agree with what Mr. Maldonado says. However, two things are evident -- you should have the chair repaired, and make sure your insurance is paid up.
