Legal Question in Business Law in California

Reasonable protection

June 28, 2003

Question, a relative was admitted to a co-ed psych facility after an attempted suicide. Of the 3 of 5 days she has stayed, she has been assaulted once by a male patient (reported to law enforcement) and attempted assault once by a woman. The mans assault was his second act , committed two days in a row. What reasonable expectation of safety and legal rights does one have in this vulnerable situation. Where can I find previous situations of this nature regarding a particular facility, or is it not public information?

Deeply concerned,

professional comments appreciated

Re: Reasonable protection

Call the department of health and make a report. Contact the Adminstrator of the facility. Discuss what occured with an attorney.
