Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Public disclosure

Does California have a law to the effect that one can ask public (State) entities (like state schools, etc.) for disclosure, submission of required documents and things?

What is the law and how do you go about requesting it?

Re: Public disclosure

The California Public Records Act, Cal. Government Code Sections 6250 et al. is this state's equivalent to the federal Freedom of Information Act. You can look up the law at www.leginfo.ca.gov , or you can google for "California Public Records Act". Most public records are covered. Normally only a letter is required to make a request for the records.
