Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

restraining order case

I am trying to get a restraining order on my neighbor who assulted me at our condo building. How much proof do I need to have /come up with that he is at fault, that he did what I am saying that he did?

(He beat on my face. bloody nose etc...)

and can I easily supena the police officer to come to the hearing so the officer can validate the police report? or do the judges always just except the police report.?
