Legal Question in Technology Law in California

I bought a computer from Dell in March 2008 and I bought the extended warranty, which is valid until February 2011. Dell provided me with a 1-year subscription to their Online Data Backup service - Dell Data Safe.

The hard drive failed July 2009. Dell sent a tech out to my home who replaced the hard drive, taking the failed one with him. Since that time, Dell has been unsucessful in restoring my data and has informed me they don't intend to help me any further.

I must get my data back. It contains legal documents and information that are worth in excess of $500,000 and I have no other means of retrieving this data. Dell has done nothing to help me and seems to feel they have no obligation to do so. What are my options?

You should have backed-up your hard drive. Hire your own IT specialist who may be able to recover the documents.
