Legal Question in Technology Law in California

Unwanted adware

Dear Sir/Madam,

I Have 2 concerns:

1. I am the victim of Adware on my computer.

The infection occured as follows:

I entered an adult site. I clicked to see a video, but a message told me to see the video I had to install Media-codec. When I clicked to install it, it listed the terms and conditions (but, like most people, I did not read it) which includes permission to install their adware promoting their adware-protection software.

Their media codec is a farse as it is not really a video codec. The only purpose of the adult website is to con people into getting the adware which relentlessly promotes the purchase of their adware-protection software.

What can I do to remove their adware which attempts to force me to buy their adware-protection software? They are like a bully who extorts money for protection... from himself!!

What can I do to prosecute?

2. I have received email from someone posing as administrator of yahoo who wants me to download a zip file threatening to close my account if I don't comply. To whom do I report this?

Thanks,

--Voz

Re: Unwanted adware

These aren't legal questions, but computer questions. Here is some computer advice:

1. Format your hard disk.

2. Quit accessing porn.

3. Don't click on any "I Agree" button without reading the agreement.

4. Delete spam and phishing emails.
