Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Honoring a
Can a department store refuse to sell a garment at the discounted price that it is marked? I went to a department store over the weekend and found a men's suit on a ''Clearance'' rack. Part of the sales price was torn and when I asked the sales associate to find out what the exact price was, she came back and told--name removed--that she would not sell the suit to--name removed--at the price it was discounted! Even the store's assistant manager said ''We (the store) do not have to honor any price that is marked on any item in the store!'' I thought this was illegal.

Re: Honoring a
Traditionally, stores are not required to honor prices shown on price tags. If a product is ADVERTISED at a certain price, however, a store can be forced to honor such a price.
