Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

In California I had a credit card with Bank of America for 5000 I went through some hard times and could not pay. They charged it off and issued me a 1099 for the dept which I paid 1800 in Federal taxes. They then sold it to CASH LLC and they are now sueing me for the entire 5000 as well as submitting a duplicate mark on my Credit report. Due I owe this debt?
